Anita Hunziker

Anita Hunziker

Brisbane-born Anita studied at the Queensland Dance School of Excellence. In 2002 she moved across the Tasman to train at the New Zealand School of Dance as a contemporary major and graduated with a Diploma of Dance in Performance. During her time at the school, Anita seconded to Footnote Dance and Dance North. She also received awards for Excellence in Contemporary Dance and Overall Best Student. Anita joined Footnote Dance in mid-2005. In 2009 she co-produced, co- choreographed and performed in Into the Looking Glass for NZ Fringe.

Sarah Knox

Sarah Knox

Sarah graduated from the New Zealand School of Dance in 2001 with a diploma in Dance Performance, also winning awards for Best All Round Student and Promise in Choreography. She worked with Douglas Wright and Black Grace and in 2005 & 2006 travelled to Japan to perform as a dancer, vocalist and magician’s assistant in a Resort Hotel. While there, she learned Nihon Buyo - traditional Japanese Dance. Sarah joined Footnote in 2006 and choreographed Kakushi Aji on the company for the 2008 Made in New Zealand season. In 2009, Sarah and Anita produced and performed their own show Into the Looking Glass which was part of the New Zealand Fringe Festival.

Jeremy Poi

Jeremy Poi

Jeremy is of Niuean/Cook Island descent. Born and raised in Auckland, while at Western Springs College he was introduced to contemporary dance though Black Grace’s Urban Youth Movement. Jeremy performed nationally and internationally with Black Grace for four years, including performing two years consecutively at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival. He has also worked with Mau and Touch Compass. This is Jeremy’s third year with Footnote Dance. In 2009 he received the Tempo Festival Award for Best Male Dancer for his performance in Stealth choreographed by Ross McCormack.

Francis Christeller

Francis Christeller

After beginning his dance training in Wellington at Tarrant Dance Studios, Francis studied for a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance at Queensland University of Technology. During this time he spent 5 months on an exchange to Taipei National University of the Arts in Taiwan. As a student, Francis had the opportunity to work with choreographers Sarah-Jayne Howard, Wu Chien-Wei, Natalie Weir and Timothy Fletcher. 2010 is Francis’ second year with Footnote Dance. He was recently named as the first recipient of the Eileen May Norris Dance Scholarship, which enables him to develop a solo work in Germany. He is planning to work with Antje Pfundtner in 2010 in Hamburg.

Lucy Marinkovich

Born and raised in Wellington, Lucy Marinkovich began dancing at age five at Tarrant Dance Studios, and at age 15 was accepted into the Junior Associate programme of the New Zealand School of Dance and subsequently went on to train fulltime as a contemporary major. She has modelled in the World of Wearable Arts since 2005 and has enjoyed performing repertoire by Jiri Kylian and Sarah Foster within NZSD productions. In her final year at NZSD Lucy undertook secondments with Footnote Dance, Ann Dewey’s company Spinning Sun and travelled to Belgium to study at the P.A.R.T.S Summer School. In 2009 she graduated from the New Zealand School of Dance with a Diploma in Dance Performance. This is Lucy’s first year with Footnote Dance.

Robbie Curtis

Robbie Curtis began dancing in Armidale, Northern NSW Australia as a way to improve his circus arts. After a short stint with the Flying Fruit Fly Circus in Albury, Robbie moved to Wollongong and trained with Joanne Grace. Robbie has worked professionally with Opera Australia as a dancer and acrobat. Robbie graduated from New Zealand School of Dance in 2009. During his time at the school he completed secondments with the Nederlands Dance Theatre, Conny Janssens Danst, Introdans and Scapino Ballet. This is Robbie’s first year with Footnote Dance.
