We’ve got an occasion to mark and we want you by our side! 2020, the year that won’t be forgotten, also marks our 35th birthday as a national contemporary dance company. We’ve spent months recalibrating our plans, and shifting our dates, but we just couldn’t let this year’s birthday go by unacknowledged. So on the 22nd August, for one night only, we invite you to gather with us and celebrate all the extraordinary people who have contributed to the history and future of Footnote, and help us go forth into the coming years with momentum.

What, Where, When?
Saturday 22nd August
6.30pm: If these walls… (free performance) begins. Meet in the alleyway off Ghuznee St, opposite Milkcrate and Customs
7pm: Party at San Fran (koha entry)

For our birthday, we’re doing what we do best, with a free live performance, created by our dear friend and acclaimed choreographer Claire O’NeilIf these walls… is a brand new site-specific dance work, developed especially for this event, which celebrates the way people make spaces become vibrant places. If these walls… will enliven the hidden courtyard behind Footnote’s current home on Cuba St with lush movement by our incredible Footnote company members, sound by award-winning composer Jason Wright and lighting by renowned designer Marcus McShane.

And then, what else is a birthday for but a party! Join us on the dance-floor at San Fran, where we’ll be letting loose and kicking up our heels ‘til the wee small hours. Stay tuned for announcements revealing the DJ line-up and other excitement! Koha entry and the first 100 audience members at our live performance will get a free drink voucher for the party.
