Our History

Founded in 1985 by Wellingtonian Deirdre Tarrant, Footnote New Zealand Dance has played a significant part in shaping the foundation of New Zealand’s current contemporary dance landscape. For more than 30 years, the company has been at the forefront of its art form: using contemporary dance to distil and reflect New Zealand's identity.
